With a nod to Steampunk

We are running a mini workshop on Monday 23rd January, in the shop 10am - 12am to make a bar brooch similar to this one.

We are giving a nod to the fantasy era of Steampunk, which has taken the USA by storm. The look is industrial, not pretty. Lots of metal work and few beads are present in Steampunk jewellery. Here though, we're just dipping our toe in the water with a choice of charms and a chance to make your own pendant to hang from the bar brooch, from a selection of appropriate illustrations.

Ready to roll On Saturday we held a paper bead making class. We used scrapbooking papers and cut 1" wide triangles to achieve this size of bead. And then the rolling began, until eventually.... there were enough to start stringing them together.... and make a very pretty necklace.

A touch extreme This saturday armed with a pair of 20mm needles, a box with holes in the lid and at least 6 strands of mixed yarns We all sat down, leaving ourselves plenty elbow room and began to knit We managed to cast on anything from 20 to 30 stitches and the resulting fabrics grew quickly It was fun seeing how the different combinations of yarn turned out. They are all going to be turned into cushions, bags runners etc. I'll show you the finished results some time.
