Today's post is to remind those of you who have kindly agreed to join our Sponsored Knit to raise funds for North Devon Hospice and make blankets for Age Concern and the Dogs Trust, that it is this Tuesday. 7.30pm in the shop. Please bring a pair of 4mm needles and some DK yarn. We will have spares if needed. Don't forget to collect as many sponsors as possible (per row of 20 stitches knitted in 2 hours). For anyone not taking part in the knit, but who would like to help this good cause a collection pot will be in the shop all next week, to help boost of donation.

Anyone attending on Tuesday who has a fold up chair, please bring it as we may run short!

Aromatherapy Oils

I have always been a fan of aromatherapy. I really do believe that these precious oils can be beneficial in improving ones mood. By far the most popular oil sold in the shop is Lavender. It has so many uses and is the only oil which is truly safe for all to use and can even be used directly onto the skin. Years ago when I made soaps using essential oils the smell in our house could be overpowering and strangely the oil which always gave me a headache was Lavender! This was due to the high concentration with which I had to use it. Used sparingly it is a successful reliever of headaches. By far my favourite oil is Rose Geranium. It has great relaxing qualities and is widely recognised as a 'hormonal regulator', making it great for PMT etc. On the days when you could cheerfully strangle someone - this is the oil to use. A couple of drops on a tissue, sniffed regularly throughout the day, or better still a massage using this oil, will have you happy & smiling again!

Burning oils in the kitchen is a marvellous way of lifting your spirits as well as removing unwanted cooking smells. For this purpose I would recommend a citrus oil, with a couple of drops of bergamot oil added. Orange & bergamot is heavenly! Lemongrass is also a good burning oil. It has a clean fresh smell which flies hate, so is ideal for summer use.

I could talk about these all day - maybe I'll mention some more another time.

Pandora style beads.

Very popular at the moment are these pretty beads, with which you can create your own bracelet. The original Pandora bracelets and beads are beautiful, but staggeringly expensive. So whether you just fancy the look for less,  or you're lucky enough to have a Pandora bracelet these beads are a very pretty addition for a fraction of the price. You can always ditch them for the real thing when you win the lottery! prices start at 99p.

A very clever lady.

Ever wondered what Jane gets up to when she's sitting in the shop?
She is such a clever lady. This was what she knocked up, all hand sewn, last week. She has such patience and a great eye for fine detail. This beautiful lavender heart is for sale now, if you simply can't resist. Sooo pretty!

What a miserable day it's been today. I'm sure we were promised sunshine.
Anyway, it didn't keep away the hardy folk of Devon, who religiously attend the Tuesday market, and then drift up to check out whats new in the shop, or just call in for a chat and a coffee. They know what's good for them!
