More cushions

We were back in the workshop mode again on Sunday with the second session of flower cushions.

Some lovely colours were used and once again, although the ladies were a little more pressed for time today, the results were very pretty.

The first round of petals goes on

Above are a small selections of those I remembered to photograph before people whisked them away to go and see to their families and make Sunday dinner.  I'm looking forward to seeing the sewn up and finished cushions over the next week or so.

Upcycling

Our workshop today was to make flower cushions from felted sweaters we no longer needed, or from charity shop finds.

Once felted in the washing machine the sweaters were dissected and the fun began.

the task of cutting a front,backs and over 40 petals was thirsty work!

Then we'd to sew all those petals into 3 long garlands.

Next we pinned the first garland of petals in place and stitched them down.

This round was closely followed by a second round

and before we knew it the final round was in place and it was time to sew it all together.

The finished cushions were really lovely and it proved a great way to use an old sweater.

Monday mornings

No longer do you need to dread a Monday morning. You can come along to our drop in craft morning and either bring a project you are working on, or join in when we hold a mini workshop.

We held one today, and with Valentine's day in mind made some pretty Love Shack bird house decorations.

And some fabulous Steam Punk brooches too

Other Monday morning mini workshops include Card Making, Paper Blossom & Free Machine Embroidery.

Wallets all about...

Oh yes, this is indeed what it's all about. An afternoon spent with lovely, like minded crafty people and a few sheets of very pretty paper.

We began the afternoon making a bone folder to give the nice crisp creases required.

Then we got onto the business of making these lovely little wallets.

 
Each one has 6 little pocket into which the ladies decided they would tuck anything from stamps, plasters, Rennies, a teabag etc to make an Emergency Supplies wallet for a Mothering Sunday present, to a loving note and a beer voucher, for a lucky husband!

A touch extreme

This saturday armed with a pair of 20mm needles, a box with holes in the lid and at least 6 strands of mixed yarns

We all sat down, leaving ourselves plenty elbow room and began to knit

We managed to cast on anything from 20 to 30 stitches and the resulting fabrics grew quickly

It was fun seeing how the different combinations of yarn turned out. They are all going to be turned into cushions, bags runners etc. I'll show you the finished results some time.

Ready to roll

On Saturday we held a paper bead making class. We used scrapbooking papers and cut 1" wide triangles to achieve this size of bead.

And then the rolling began, until eventually....

there were enough to start stringing them together....

and make a very pretty necklace.

 

Festive Fabric Wreaths

The long awaited wreath making workshops took place this weekend and I estimate we used approx 5000 scraps of fabric over the 2 days!

These wreaths really do have the wow! factor and it is certainly a workshop we'll do again. Watch out for the Spring/Easter version coming in a couple of months.

Frosty Autumnal tones give this one a really wintery feel.

Very pretty results came from a more structured look

A touch of deep pink velvet gave this wreath a very opulent tone.

I love the difference a touch of gingham can make.

And finally the Starry Night wreath.

There were 24 wreaths made in total over the weekend and there were no two alike. Even ladies who shared material made different wreaths. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all emerge and would happily hang any in my home. My apologies to those ladies who's wreaths have not made onto the blog.

Christmas is coming

Oh yes indeed it is. To ease us gently into the correct mind set we had a workshop on Saturday making charms to add to our presents, cards, trees etc.

Papers, that is. ......

and taking a couple of sheets, some card, some string and glue

and turning them into stylish gift bags.  Neatest bottom of the day was awarded to Eileen!

Claire branched out and moved onto wallpaper bags, which looked very impressive.

We finally we added paper flowers and the job was done. Pretty and useful - that's what we like.

Zipped up

There are some mysteries of sewing and for many years, for me, putting a zip in, was one of those mysteries. However, it's dead easy! So I was delighted to be able to pass on my relatively new found skill to some ladies at our workshop on Saturday.

We made an unlined and a lined cosmetic purse. . . . . .
