We lucky to have Caroline Munn able to come and make sugar paste Christmas Roses at a workshop on Saturday.
This is what we were aiming for.
So the petals were cut and shaped. Then left to dry under lamps.
The centre was added and a dusting of powder to create the shaded yellow effect.
Leaves were next, they had to be cut , coloured and then assembled
Ribbon touches were added and everyone took home a sprig of Christmas rose any cake would be proud to have top it off.
Look out for details of a Spring flower sugar paste workshop coming in March.
The long awaited wreath making workshops took place this weekend and I estimate we used approx 5000 scraps of fabric over the 2 days!
These wreaths really do have the wow! factor and it is certainly a workshop we'll do again. Watch out for the Spring/Easter version coming in a couple of months.
For now though, here are just a small selection of the stunning wreaths made this time.....................
Really Christmassy tones
Toffee tones, make this wreath look good enough to eat!
Frosty Autumnal tones give this one a really wintery feel.
Very pretty results came from a more structured look
A touch of deep pink velvet gave this wreath a very opulent tone.
I love the difference a touch of gingham can make.
And finally the Starry Night wreath.
There were 24 wreaths made in total over the weekend and there were no two alike. Even ladies who shared material made different wreaths. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all emerge and would happily hang any in my home. My apologies to those ladies who's wreaths have not made onto the blog.
It was time to get the sponge and the stabbing needle out on Saturday when we held a workshop for needle felting. Inspired by Kirsty Allsop's robin, we had a go at making some of our own, with pretty good results I think you'll agree. Others chose to get into the Christmas spirit with puddings and baubles and one lady steered clear of festive forays altogether and made a beautiful blue tit, which was an excellent first venture into needle felt.
An inspirational gift & craft shop in a pretty market town.
