Blossom. The first signs that summer and all it promises, are just around the corner.
Well, if you're getting a little impatient and feel the need to hurry things along, why not join our workshop this Saturday 2nd April at 2pm. Everything will be provided, and it costs just £5.
We will be making blossom to adorn our homes. My son Lewie made some for us. Not sure what fruit is likely to follow this array of coloured blooms, but it prettied up the lounge, so I'm not complaining.
Saturday afternoon saw our workshop ladies knitting, crocheting, threading and twisting wire, to create some very pretty results.
Silver with and aqua beads were knitted to make a stunning cuff bracelet.
This very elegant necklace was created using bronze with and rose shaded beads. Finished off behind the neck with a taffeta ribbon.
Silver wire and ocean coloured beads knitted and then plaided together gave this bracelet its charm.
A similar technique was used for this bright summery bracelet too.
Lilac & gold provided the basic for another delicate necklace - perfect for long hot summer evening.

This Saturday afternoon, we are having a play with wire and beads. Knitting, crochet, french knitting, threading - what ever takes your fancy. Wire, beads, hooks, needles etc all provided.
If you feel like having a go, do come along. 2pm in the shop. Cost £7.50.
It's been a while since I've been out before 7am on a week day, but this week I've had a couple of days of paper round duty (I know, I know!) and I've loved being the only one around as the sun wakes up and the day begins.
Most mornings this week have started quite frosty.
I thought this ice pattern formed across a dip in the moor was quite amazing.
The pond area has been cleared of a lot of the trees which crowded the edge.
It has really made a difference. A Heron is a regular visitor now, as are a pair of Mallards.
Yellow is still the predominate colour, with the last of the daffodils giving way to a carpet of buttercup yellow flowers I can't remember the name of!
Catkins are hanging in there too. Wont be long before the garlic & the blue bells move in to change the colour scheme.
On a slightly separate note, I came across a Knitted Vegetables Book. It's not everyone who wakes up and thinks 'today I'll knit vegetables' - but if that's you, then this book is just what you need.
Inside there are 20 patterns for every thing from chillies to....
to carrots, and onto the more exotic.........
Artichoke, which I think is really beautiful. Would I have to be a princess to find one of these in my bed??
I guess this book could be for anyone who wants to impress the neighbours with an apparent bouncy of veg in their garden. Start knitting girls, you'll have the most impressive harvest ever.
Over the last week or so I've had a few people wandering around the shop looking for ideas for Mothering Sunday. So, whether you are looking to buy for your mum or to put requests to your offspring, here are a few of my suggestions for all tastes & budgets.

£3 buys you a coaster bound to raise a smile - especially if a bottle goes with it!
For a more sophisticated Mamma, a badge to ensure her tastes are not forgotten.

As we come to the end of our current workshop list, with just Wire & Beads (27th March) left to do, it seems a good time to introduce you to the next selection of 'play times' I have in store for you!
We are delighted to have Isabella Whitworth coming to do a silk scarf painting session with us on Sunday afternoon, May 8th. Booking for this workshop is essential. Cost £20, limited to 6 people.
On Saturday afternoon 2nd April we'll be giving Spring a helping hand by making Blossom..................
This will be a cheap & happy session at just £5.
ON Saturday 16th April, with the help of a candle(!) we will make beautiful flower corsages. These can be put onto brooch backs, hair bobbles, or lengths of ribbon to tie onto presents.
You could clip them in your hair, make a choker of them - the possibilities are endless!

It was a flying visit 'up north', but I managed to cram in as much as was humanly possible!
Top row. Lymm in Cheshire. A pretty little town, complete with canal and ancient monuments (it doesn't always have the goblin with the french stick on it! - that's Hamish my nephew).
Second row. Making time. Cold processed soap & corsages. (workshop coming soon!)
Third row. We found Cath Kidston paradise in Selfridges, Manchester. I was very restrained - just a flour shaker.
Fourth row. My guilt pleasure! and the first signs that spring might actually be on the way.
Apologies to Sarah & her very lovely Jack Russell, as I should have posted this before I went away. Here Poppy is modeling the latest Pet Accessory from our K&N collection knitted by her 'mum' Sarah Hill. I think you'll agree, she looks very pretty indeed.
