If you're really lucky I'll tell you about my weekend away in London seeing Ronan live with Boyzone...................
Or you can shut me in the cupboard.! Choice is yours.
See you later.
For all those who have witnessed me crocheting my picnic blanket over the past few weeks. It's done!
I used 22 balls of Kon-tiki cotton (£2.10 each), 2 balls each, of 11 colours. Made a chain of 200 and randomly striped 2 rows of Treble crochet, in each colour. I finished off with a single crochet edging all the way around. The finished blanket measures 46" x 75".
I'm back to thinking about post-able gifts this morning and these really pretty corsages came to mind.
Fair trade, from South Africa they are beautifully made from pure silk, with little beads in the centre. Perfect for pinning to a jumper or coat, or even a handbag. At just under £7 I think they're the perfect Mothers day gift - but I might be biased!!
Being such a kind mum (or a sucker - you decide!) I took it upon myself to do my son's paper round this morning and let him have am extra hour in bed. What a great decision that was. It was the most beautiful, ethereal morning. Patches of fog, plenty of frost and the promise of glorious sunshine. Floss, accompanied me, now fully recovered from her ordeal a week ago. Apart from the stitches and the bald patch! My thanks to everyone who has enquired after her. Anyway, I thought I'd share a few snaps with you. Enjoy your days whatever you're up to. You know where I'll be until 2pm. The kettle is on if you fancy a cuppa.............
It was a bit too chilly for a picnic when we arrived.
The pond had a thin layer of ice.
There were signs of the day to come though.
Floss looking back at me through the mist.
On the way back the sun was coming up and the mist beginning to clear - a lovely day was on it's way.
This morning I thought I'd show you a couple or pretty little gifts that might make lovely Mothering Sunday gifts. Mothering Sunday, is a week on Sunday, 14th March. A lot of ladies in Hatherleigh seem to have family in other parts of the country & abroad and usually need something which is light and safe to send. So for those of you who need to catch the post, these two little pretties might fit the bill. They are both made of silk and are FairTrade. The purse sports beautiful machine embroidery flowers and is fully lined. The little jewellery roll, perfect for a weekend away, has little zip pockets inside.
We have larger jewellery rolls too - for anyone lucky enough to get more than a weekend away!
Firstly, my thanks to everyone for the fantastic turn out for our Sponsored Knit. It turned into quite an evening. I doubt there were many topics of conversation we didn't touch on. Anything from composting through games consoles for young offenders to alternative uses for an orange! It truly was varied.
Eyes down! the clock is ticking. L-R Colleen, Debbie, Wendy, Tina)
Our thanks go to Sue (head of the table!) for offering to sew our strips together into a blanket. I fear it may be a Dogs Trust blanket, rather than a Help The Aged!
There were in fact 11 of us. I just couldn't get everyone in the picture. Sorry folks.
